Youthful State of Mind

Staying young, and feeling young is a state of mind, but you need to feed your mind with current, fresh information. It’s easy to wear the same old outfits, eat the same meals, watch the same TV shows, renew the same magazines year after year, and listen to the same radio station. That may make you feel comfortable, but it makes you stale and shows your age. Step out, shake it up, learn something new!
I’m not saying that you have to do all this at once but, go to the movies once a month, and try a new restaurant. Don’t have the money, or don’t feel well enough to go out? Try take out and renting a new flick. Learn to cook differently, using new methods or ingredients, new spices, fusion, stir fry. Watch a cooking show or two or three; there are so many out there. Even if you don’t like your first try, continue the adventure. No more just meat and potatoes every night for you.
Movies, magazines, and books can keep you up on what’s happening in the world. Again, read current authors and magazine articles so you have something to add at your next family gathering or lunch with friends. Keep up with ads on beauty, and home design. All these things give you a fresh outlook on all aspects of your life. Looking good in your clothes is great, being fashionable is terrific, but you should be up to date on many things to maintain a youthful outlook. Beauty ads makes you aware of new products that target the over 40 crowd.
You don’t have to run out and buy everything that is advertised but you can do some research and see what products might work best for you. Checking out home decorating magazines, and even strolling around some furniture stores will give you some fresh ideas for sprucing up your own home. Even if your budget doesn’t allow for a complete home overhaul, a few choice pieces added now and then will spice up your home and help to make your whole attitude fresh.
