Plastic Surgery or Not

Posted by 4T at 08:38 | Filed In Health After 40, Life After 40

Ten years ago, I would thumb my nose at plastic surgery, with that “not me” attitude.

Today, I’m checking out my options.

Two years ago, I had caps put on my teeth to enhance my smile. A smile that I lived with for over 50 years. What’s next? Liposuction? No, too scary-I saw it being done on TV. Eye lift? Maybe, but they make small slices in your eye lid. I had a friend do it. She healed beautifully, but I’m still squeamish. Sometimes I think they pull the skin up into your hairline. Neck lift? Possible, I always hated my double chin. I also saw that being done on one of those medical shows. Not pretty, but acceptable.

How about gastric bypass? I could afford to lose a ton of weight. The whole procedure takes months though with testing, and psychiatrist visits to see if you are truly committed to losing weight. Hair replacement? No way! But I would consult a Hair Loss Center for possible alternatives, like laser treatment or prescription medicines. What about a trip to a good dermatologist for some face rejuvenation procedures? I can handle that, I think.

There is always the plan to age gracefully-whatever that means. That doesn’t mean I can’t help myself look good for as long as I can afford to. I want to look good physically, it helps me feel better mentally. And to quote Martha that’s a very good thing!
