Grandchildren

I can’t wait for grandchildren. Don’t worry, I’m not one of those mothers who pressures their kids to have children. I’m just ready for when it happens. I look forward to babysitting and sleepovers, and vacations. I just don’t think that I want to commit to a long term child care position. Five years ago, I might have had a different outlook, but as I get older, I hate to admit it, I don’t think that I have the stamina it takes to care for a young one on a daily basis.

Ten years ago, I would thumb my nose at plastic surgery, with that “not me” attitude.

Today, I’m checking out my options.

Two years ago, I had caps put on my teeth to enhance my smile. A smile that I lived with for over 50 years. What’s next? Liposuction? No, too scary-I saw it being done on TV. Eye lift? Maybe, but they make small slices in your eye lid. I had a friend do it. She healed beautifully, but I’m still squeamish. Sometimes I think they pull the skin up into your hairline. Neck lift? Possible, I always hated my double chin. I also saw that being done on one of those medical shows. Not pretty, but acceptable.

I’ve always wanted to travel, but after reaching 50 my desire has intensified. I don’t care where it is, I’m interested. Whether it is the next state or the next hemisphere. I don’t have any desire to visit space though. I would love to take 6 months, rent a fully equipped RV, and take a road trip across this great country of ours. I’m not as interested in the big cities as I am in the small towns. I feel that most cities are alike to some degree, but the outskirts are where you experience the flavors of each state. I mean that literally and figuratively. Small dinners and village hangouts can give you great insight into peoples lives in certain areas. Just look around your own area and the eateries you frequent. Certain foods are popular, as are drinks; you even discover fashion and decorating styles. Local vernacular can also be picked up.
