Women reach their sexual peak at age 35, men at age 18. What is wrong with this picture? And what does this say for those over 40? There are some issues for us old timers, but nothing that we can’t handle. There are a lot of pluses too that can make sex more pleasurable in our older years.
By midlife, you should know your body and what is pleasurable. Hopefully you have shed your sexual inhibitions and gained some sexual confidence which should result in a pleasant experience for both of you. Senior Citizen Benefits or Not?

Does it make you feel old to use senior citizen benefits or does it make you feel good to finally save some money?
My mother-in-law hates to use senior discounts even though she is 78! She will not attend senior citizen centers, won’t look at senior meal deals in restaurants, and just refuses to acknowledge that she might be entitled to these benefits. I have tried to explain to her that senior centers encourage you to be as young as you feel, and that they have many activities to keep you that way. Learning about computers, and traveling, are just two good examples. I know that she is very active ( she won’t walk with the neighbors though, they are too slow) but I feel she needs companionship.
She exercises, walks, eats well, likes to dress well, but she talks to me as though I’m her age (I’m 55). She’ll bring up things from her past and say remember the TV show such and such? No, I was only 4. She has been throwing away her AARP info for years. Now that I’m entitled to some benefits or getting closer, I can’t wait to take advantage of senior citizen discounts at the stores, hotels, or restaurants that offer them. Maybe when I use them people will say that I look too young , and I’ll just smile and say thank you.

Staying young, and feeling young is a state of mind, but you need to feed your mind with current, fresh information. It’s easy to wear the same old outfits, eat the same meals, watch the same TV shows, renew the same magazines year after year, and listen to the same radio station. That may make you feel comfortable, but it makes you stale and shows your age. Step out, shake it up, learn something new!
